Origin Story
DecayNYFX began in 2000 making custom props and providing special makeup and FX for film and TV, as well as working with several metal bands on tour props and music videos, including Otep and Dead by Wednesday.
After establishing a regular presence in the northeast convention scene at Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors and Chiller Theater and appearing several times in Fangoria magazine, it wasn’t long before we got to work with studios like Media Blasters, Fever Dream Productions and the legendary Bill Diamond Productions, leading to projects with notable genre stars like Tony Todd, Misty Mundae, Bill Moseley and Sid Haig, among others.
In 2011 we worked with Madame Tussauds NY in Times Square on their After Dark Halloween event and stayed on to supervise their Scream Chamber, a year round haunted walk through, as well as assisting the in-house studio on the wax figure repair and maintenance.
Film highlights include Shadow: Dead Riot directed by Derek Wan, Satan’s Schoolgirls directed by Ted Crestview, and Fairview Falls directed by Glen Baisley.
DecayNYFX is Gene Mazza II and Tom Moretti.
